If you’d like to change, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Issuu subscription—or switch between monthly and annual billing—you can do so at any time through your Account Settings.
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to:
-
Upgrade your account
-
Downgrade your account to the Starter plan (from Unlimited or Teams)
- Downgrade your account to the Basic plan (canceling your subscription or free trial)
-
Change your billing cycle (Monthly ↔ Annual)
NOTE: All paid plans are set to renew automatically unless canceled before the next billing date.
This also applies to free trials: if you don't wish to renew, please ensure you cancel your subscription before the trial period ends, otherwise you will be charged for the selected plan.
To find out when your next recurring payment is scheduled:
-
Log in to your Issuu account.
-
Hover over your profile photo in the top right corner and select ACCOUNT SETTINGS from the dropdown menu.
-
Go to the BILLING tab — your next recurring payment date will be listed at the bottom of the page.
Upgrading your account
You can easily upgrade your account to a higher-tier plan by following these steps:
-
Select your preferred billing cycle (Monthly or Annual) and subscription level.
-
Click Upgrade/Get Started to confirm.
NOTE: If you've just upgraded but don't see the paid features right away, try logging out and back in to refresh your account.
Your upgrade takes effect immediately. Any unused portion of your current subscription will be applied as a credit toward your new plan.
EXAMPLE: You currently have a Starter Annual subscription active from June 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026. On August 1, 2025, you decide to immediately upgrade to the Unlimited Annual plan.
When your new invoice for the Unlimited plan is generated, you’ll receive a credit for the unused portion of your Starter Annual plan — specifically, the remaining 10 months (from August 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026). This credit will be automatically applied to reduce the cost of your new subscription.
Downgrading your account to the Starter plan (from Unlimited or Teams)
You can easily downgrade your account to the Starter plan (from Unlimited or Teams) by following these steps:
-
Log in to your Issuu account.
-
Hover over your profile photo in the top right-hand corner, and select ACCOUNT SETTINGS from the dropdown menu.
-
Go to the SERVICES & PLANS section, and click the DOWNGRADE on the Starter plan.
-
Confirm your new plan selection.
NOTE: The downgrade will take effect at your next renewal date. Until then, your current plan and features will remain active.
No refund is issued for the price difference between the Unlimited/Teams and Starter plans.
If you’d prefer the change to take effect immediately, you will need to:
-
Receive a refund for your Unlimited/Teams subscription.
-
Your account will then be downgraded to the free Basic plan.
-
From there, you can re-upgrade to the Starter plan.
Downgrading your account to the Basic plan (canceling your subscription or free trial)
IMPORTANT: Cancelling a subscription does not automatically trigger a refund. Your plan will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. After that, your account will be downgraded to the Basic (free) plan. If you’d like to terminate your subscription immediately and receive a refund, please refer to the following article: How to receive a refund.
Please note that subscriptions cannot be paused or temporarily suspended.
To cancel your subscription or free trial, you’ll need to downgrade to our free Basic plan. Here’s how:
- Log in to your Issuu account.
- Hover over your profile photo in the top right corner and select ACCOUNT SETTINGS from the dropdown menu.
- Go to the SERVICES AND PLANS tab.
- Under the Basic plan section, click DOWNGRADE, then select CONTINUE.
- Follow the on-screen prompts. At the end, you’ll see a cancellation confirmation pop-up.
Once you've successfully completed the downgrade process, the system will display the expiration date of your current plan. Your subscription benefits will remain active until that date, after which your account will automatically switch to the Basic plan.
NOTE: If your account has an outstanding balance or a failed/pending payment, this process will immediately downgrade your account to the free Basic plan and close the past-due invoice without charging your card. For more details, please check out this article: How to downgrade your account with a past-due invoice.
Changing your billing cycle (between Annual and Monthly)
You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time by following these steps:
-
Log in to your Issuu account.
-
Hover over your profile photo in the top right-hand corner and select ACCOUNT SETTINGS from the dropdown menu.
-
Navigate to the SERVICES & PLANS section.
-
Under your current plan, select or deselect the “Save $XX with annual billing” checkbox.
-
Click UPDATE to confirm your new billing cycle.
NOTE: If an overlay screen doesn’t appear when making changes, please check that you don’t have a pop-up blocker enabled.
To proceed, make sure pop-ups are allowed for issuu.com in your browser settings.
NOTE: Changing your billing cycle between monthly and annual for the same plan will not affect your existing publication links. All previously published content will remain accessible as usual.
If you switch from a monthly billing cycle to an annual one for the same plan, the change takes effect immediately. Any unused portion of your current monthly subscription will be credited toward the new annual plan.
If you switch from an annual billing cycle to monthly, the change will take effect at your next renewal date. If you’d prefer the change to take effect immediately, you will need to:
-
Receive a refund for your annual subscription.
-
Your account will then be downgraded to the free Basic plan.
-
From there, you can re-upgrade to the desired monthly plan.
Transferring content or subscriptions between accounts
Currently, we do not support automatic merging or transferring of publications between Issuu accounts.
To move publications from one account to another, you’ll need to manually re-upload them to the new account. Once re-uploaded, you may delete them from the original account if you wish.
NOTE: Document links and publication statistics will be lost during the manual transfer process.
Each Issuu account is treated as a separate and independent entity. As such, subscriptions cannot be transferred from one account to another. To switch accounts, you’ll need to cancel the subscription on the original account and then upgrade the new account to your desired plan.
