Why do you need all these permissions before I download the issuu Android app?

The issuu for Android app requires permissions to access functionality on your device in order to deliver the best possible experience. We are asking for access to the following:

  • Storage (modify or delete the contents of your USB storage, read the contents of your USB storage): To improve performance we store cached data to your device and USB storage.
  • Your accounts (add or remove accounts, create accounts and set passwords, find accounts on the device, use accounts on the device): We are using the Android Application Account Manager to store your credentials in an issuu account (you can find it in Settings under the Accounts divider). Once you remove the app we also remove the issuu account on the device. We only have access to the account created by the issuu app and are not able to read/modify or otherwise access accounts created by other apps.
  • Network communication (full network access, receive data from Internet, view network connections): This allows us to deliver content to and from issuu and be able to handle situations where the network is not available.
  • Affects Battery (prevent tablet from sleeping): This is necessary in order for us to send you push notifications. You can disable receiving push notifications in Settings -> Apps on your device.
