Currently Issuu Mobile is available for Android. We've also developed a cool app for iPhone but, sadly, Apple rejected it. At Issuu we want to provide mobile support for all major mobile platforms. Therefore we have Issuu Mobile for Android and our iPad reader.
Go to m.issuu.com on your mobile browser, or scan this code with your phone to install the free app from Android Market.
When reading a publication on Issuu Mobile, there are a few important gestures to learn:
One of the most visible improvements is the article index. Whenever you go to the second page of a publication you’ll get an overview of articles. Simply scroll down to find something interesting, or go to the next page to close the article index. The article index can always be opened with the icon in the top-right of the navigation menu.
EasyRead can currently only identify some of the articles, not all, but we’ll improve this as we move along. Whenever you see a big Read Now button you’ll know there’s a full article to read.
Many of our beta users have requested more language control. When you are reading a text selection you’ll notice a globe icon in the top-right corner. Select it to translate the text into any language. The menu will remember your last selection for easy access next time.
At the end of any text selection you’ll notice three buttons: Twitter, Facebook and Share. Clicking Share will use Android’s built-in sharing function where you can pass information to any of your installed apps, such as Gmail, Messaging, or Twidroid. The other buttons will open the browser to share on Twitter and Facebook.
The link you are sharing is made short and could look like this: issuu.com/s/Hz. As you can see it takes you to a nice article page that is optimized for both desktop and mobile use. Readers can easily translate that page to their preferred language, and even share it again regardless of which device they’re using.
If a publication is mostly text, you’ll now be offered to read it in Book mode. If you select ‘Book’ you will view text only. This is ideal for books, reports and essays that doesn’t have articles or images. You can always tap the screen once to bring up the navigation menu so you won’t get lost.
Now you can have all your favorite publications with you on the go, even when you’re not online. All you need to do is open a publication, hit ‘Menu’ and then ‘Download’. Your download will run in the background and can later be found using the new button on the Dashboard.
We’ve now added filtering options to the search page. Once you’ve searched for a title or keyword you can filter your results by a range of languages, and sort the results by latest, rating and view count. This should help you find what you’re looking for a lot quicker.
Go to m.issuu.com on your Android phone's browser to get started.
